If you have been "In" & around LinkedIn for a as long as I have you would know that back in 2017, LinkedIn started a Mentor service.
Ever wondered what happened to it?
I had to look it up, to be 100% sure, and today it's called Career Advice. This is what it looks like!

This is what an introduction message looks like:

If you want to be a "mentor" offering career advice, go to your personal LinkedIn Profile and make sure this option is visible and selected. Once you do you should be able to see a new section in your personal profile, as I do here, called "Career Advice":

(If you don't see it, go to your profile settings. The above image is what mine looks like. Notice the Green "ON" icon.)

As you might have noticed, there is a limited time window where the two of you may chat. Once you are both matched can communicating, you may then freely message each other, and either party may terminate the communication / chat at any point.

You don't need one to become one. And hopefully along the way, you do get a mentor. ... Let's end this two part Q&A with some quotes!
  • “Our chief want in life is somebody who will make us do what we can.” — Ralph Waldo Emerson
  • “My mentor said, ‘Let’s go do it,’ not ‘You go do it.’ How powerful when someone says, ‘Let’s!’” — Jim Rohn
  • “We’re here for a reason. I believe a bit of the reason is to throw little torches out to lead people through the dark.” — Whoopi Goldberg
  • “You know, you do need mentors, but in the end, you really just need to believe in yourself.” — Diana Ross
  • “Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn.” ― Benjamin Franklin
  • “Mentoring is a brain to pick, an ear to listen, and a push in the right direction.” — John Crosby
  • “Children must be taught how to think, not what to think.” ― Margaret Mead
  • “My mistakes have been my greatest mentors.” – Steve Maraboli
